Dental Braces Insurance

Most dental coverage programs provide for preventative care in regular dental work. They're designed this way in order to keep the cost of the plan low. Visiting the dentist regularly can certainly help prevent problems such as gum decay and halitosis. However, if you are in need of a jaw alignment or teeth straightening, these plans do not often cover more than 20% of the total cost of dental braces.

Still, at rates of about $10 per month per person, saving 20% on the very expensive cost of orthodontic work can be quite beneficial. If you feel that this is not enough coverage for your requirements, you can try a dental indemnity insurance plan, which often covers up to 50% of the cost of dental braces work, and will cost you about $40 per month per insured person.

Another option is to consult your orthodontist about monthly payment plans. Most privately practicing orthodontists offer financing for dental braces.
